Our Mission and Vision
We are a coalition of concerned Worcester residents united in its opposition to the double rotary redesign
project on Chandler Street in the vicinity of May Street School, Worcester State University and
the Worcester Dual Language Magnet School.
Our goal is to redirect the $8.5 million budgeted for this project towards more pedestrian-friendly initiatives that benefit our community. We have gathered over a thousand signatures from local residents, demonstrating widespread opposition to this project. Through our efforts, we aim to raise awareness and advocate for a safer, more efficient Worcester.
Key Concerns Regarding the Project
- The project will disrupt traffic for at least three years, affecting major arteries and local businesses.
- A large aqueduct sits under Chandler St and will need to be lowered if the project proceeds. The cost of lowering the aqueduct is NOT covered by the TIP funds. The expense will need to come directly out of your city tax dollars.
- At least three properties have received notifications from the city informing them that their land is being taken by eminent domain.
- Major anticipated disruptions to local schools
